Technical (20 mins)

Organisation:

Create a 30 x 20 box 

Bib Players up n arrival 

4 different colour set of cones one colour per corner

1 player in each box  and the others in the middle 

Practice:

The players in the boxes are given a throw or pass to aim towards the players, for example box 1 along the floor, box two chest, box three in the air knee level, box 4 in the air. 

The players in the middle must keep rotating in a random direction.

Mechanics:

  • On Toes
  • Eye on the Ball
  • Get in line with the ball
  • Decide and present surface towards the ball
  • Relax on Impact

Progression:

  • Try controlling it with your weaker foot on to your strong foot.
  • Increase the distance your receiving the ball from.
  • Increase the power the ball is passed in.

Skill (20 mins)

Organisation:

Create a 30 x 20 box

1 player in each box  and the others in the middle 

Practice:

Session carries over from the previous technical session.

This time one player in the middle is a defender and will try to intercept the ball causing the receiving players problems and putting them under pressure.

once the player intercepts the ball then the player who lost it is in the middle.

Progression:

  • Add another defender.
  • Close the space to increase intensity for players
  • Give the throwers 3 seconds to throw the ball to a player so its more match realistic.

Small Sided Game (SSG) (20 mins)

Organisation:

Pitch is split in to three sections.

4v4 teams 

goals at each end of the pitch 

Practice:


  • Free play to begin with
  • Then each player must touch the ball at least once in each third before the team can score.

Progression:

  • Each section has a different touch control to do before they can score.
  • Time limit to score
