this is a session to create and utilise space leading to a game to suit the system we are playing during this part of the season.

Equipment:
I ball

6 players outside the circle
2 players inside.
Aim:
Out side players to keep possession and see how many passes the can do with out the inside players touching the ball. Inside players look to win the ball. If they do win the ball they swap with the outside player who touched the ball last.
If an inside player gets a nutmeg they add 5 passes onto the total and are free from going in the middle if they touch the ball last before the inside player wins the ball. The inside players stays in the middle for an extra time.
Progression.
Limit touches for the outside players. finish on one touch

Aim of the drill
Ball is fed into the pitch by coaches to the side of each pitch
Pitch 1: both teams try to keep possession of the ball as much as they can
Pitch 2: both team try to keep possession of the ball. Both keeper help the team in possession.
Coach times the game for 2 minutes Both teams aim to be in possession after the 2 minutes.
The team in possession after the 2 minutes have 1 minute to score as many times as possible. They can score in any goal on their pitch.
Pitch 1 you have the 4 mini goals
Pitch 2 you have the 2 larger goals with keepers.
After the 1 minute we go back to the 2 minute possession game

holding midfielder can go all over the pitch
coaching tips
This is to replicate a match situation
using width to find space
striker locked in centre to attack and find space in the penalty area (try for one touch finish)
holding midfielder to go side to side to defend wide areas and support wide players
defenders to stay in centre so replicate defending the area.
wide player to try to win 1 on 1 battle to get to by line for cut backs or to offer through balls for midfielders and strikers to run onto and strike at goal.

if a defender attacks can a midfielder fill in the space left?
