The whole session is structured around attack v defence, rotating personnel into the positions which they will play in the game.
Different scenarios from structured starts and from free play.
The Blue team will work on setting traps and scoring quickly if they win the ball (movement patterns in possession).
Focus on defending and on playing out from the back.

Organisation
Players positioned on the half-pitch as shown (double up on cones).
Pass in the direction shown (yellow ball), White ball goes in the opposite direction.
Pass and follow.

How to Play

With the GK looking to throw;
- FB go touchline wide and high (mid-half).
- CB split to the corners of the box.
- Outside CM in a channel between the CB & FB.
- CM prepared to drop in to receive a roll out.
- S positions shown (depending on direction of kick the support striker would come across).

Central Areas
If the ball is near the halfway line, GK above the penalty spot.
Remain compact as a back 4 & central MF trio.
Our FB look after their wingers.
Cues & Triggers
Move as a unit as the ball moves.
Every time the opposition plays backwards "nick a yard!" squeeze them back.
Press every sloppy touch and pass.
If the ball goes into their strikers, can we win it from the front?
The 5 yard strip from our 18 yard line towards the halfway line we press, harrass and block!

Wide Areas
FB double up with WCM.
Opposite FB take position in line with the back post (open hips) - no blind-side runs unchecked.
Mark ball side and goal side.
Cues & Triggers
WB/WCM try to block crosses.
GK organise and communicate.
CB compete for all headers.
Opposite FB cover far post area.
MF protect against cut-backs to the edge of the box.
