Group Game: The Trap (15 mins)

Field Size 18 x 30 (2)

What: Setting the trap

Who: 8,9,10

Where: Defensive Half

When: The ball goes wide

Why: To recover ball

Shown as 4 v 3 +1 . Scale to size. Have to have a minimum of three defenders in the middle.

Instruction: GK plays ball wide. The blue 9. 8. 10, move as an unit to set the trap.

1. The defender closest to the ball curls his approach to the strong side to remove the width option.

2. The strong side defender covers the penetrate option.

3. The weak side mid defender balances himself between the width option and diagonal pass.

The attacking team plays rondo until the defensive team recovers. Once they recover the ball they play it to their target, the GK, and the GK plays it wide. The GK pass into play is a free pass.

Continuous play for 5 minutes. Three games. After each game switch out the 8, 9, and 10.

Coach in in the flow and individual reference after I demonstrate.

Score: The defending team gets 1 point every time they recover the ball and complete pass to the GK. The attacking team gets 1 point for 5 consecutive passes.
