What: Setting the trap
Who: 6,8,9,10
Where: Defensive Half
When: The ball goes wide
Why: To recover ball
Shown as 4 x 4 +1. Scale to size. Have to have a minimum of three defenders in the middle.
Instruction:
GK plays ball wide to red. The blue 9. 8. 10, and 6 move as an unit to "get it" The attacking team plays rondo until the blue team "gets it" Once they got it they play it down to the opposite GK and move to the other half while the orange 6.8,9,10 tries to "get it"
Rotate the defending team every 90 seconds.
Observe how they organize. Make note if they are closing the DCG, when and who they pressure, how they cover and balance.
Score: The defending team gets 1 point every time they recover the ball and another point for a completed pass to the GK. The attacking team gets 1 point for 5 consecutive passes.

Instruction: GK plays ball wide. The blue 9. 8. 10, move as an unit to set the trap.
1. The defender closest to the ball curls his approach to the strong side to remove the width option.
2. The strong side defender covers the penetrate option.
3. The weak side mid defender balances himself between the width option and diagonal pass.
The attacking team plays rondo until the defensive team recovers. Once they recover the ball they play it to their target, the GK, and the GK plays it wide. The GK pass into play is a free pass.
Continuous play for 5 minutes. Three games. After each game switch out the 8, 9, and 10.
Coach in in the flow and individual reference after I demonstrate.
Score: The defending team gets 1 point every time they recover the ball and complete pass to the GK. The attacking team gets 1 point for 5 consecutive passes.

Organization:
-2v2
-2v1 scenario plus 1 recovering defender
-2 GKs
Instructions:
-Player A dribbles into endzone, stops ball, touches either goal post then transitions into defense by making recovery run back into play
-Player B or C dribble out of zone and attack goal
-Player D steps out to defend on Attacking teams first touch
-Attacking team 1 point for scoring
-Defending team 2 points for recovering ball and scoring
Rotation:
-Attackers alternate between B & C
-Defenders alternate between A & D
-Switch roles after 4' (4 rounds of 4'; each team attacks twice and defends twice)
Coaching Points:
-Mentality and reaction to recover (2nd defender)
-Delay attack (1st defender) until play becomes 2v2
-Body position (side on) and feet work
-Force attacker into dribbling and take away passing option (allowing 2nd defender time to recover)
Progressions:
-Player A can initiate play with shot on goal
