Possession wall game

possesion box

1. fairly simple drill

2. requires around 14 players but is adaptable with more

3. object is for each team to work the ball from one side of the box to the other using players on outside of box

4. players keep possesion inside box but look to use players on outside of box when possible

5. if a pass is played from inside box to player on outside the player playing pass must swap with outside player

6.player receiving pass on oustide of box must pass ball down the line to his partner and follow ball therefore 2nd player receiving pass then enters into the box unaposed and play carries on.

coaching points

1.the drill should demand a lot of the players and it should never stop

2. coaches playing ball in whenever needed to keep up the intensity

3. check shoulders when reciving the ball

4. name calling

4. players receiving pass on sidelines need to take a positive touch in direction of there next pass up the line

5.look for players on sidelines taking as little touches as possible to shift from one side to the other and re-entering the pitch

5. when the ball is played out to sidlines this should be a TRIGGER for players in the middle of the park to anticipate that the ball is going up the line and that they need to look for space to support the new player entering the field

6. players should look to play the DEEP LINE pass from deep in the pitch upto player on sideline if possible I.E. pass accross full width of pitch if possible

7. if the player playing deepline pass is furthest away from player receiving pass then a player nearer the receiver needs to switch out onto sidlines. it's about positional awarness and space awarness

make it competetive

1. award each team a point when they complete a pass to outside and player re-entering play from side completes a pass to keep possesion.

2. award a point for a player recognising that he is nearer to sidlines than the passer to switch out
