Session Objective : Build-up’ efficiently and find players in advanced positions
We are in possession and opposition set up with the 9 and four players in a high line of confrontation
Their line of confrontation and compactness create density in our defensive third. They press the ball carrier and limit forward short passing option. They also dictate the direction by forcing us to play one way
We are going to improve the team ability to maintain possession until we can progress beyond the first line of defense and find players in advanced position when 1/4/5/6 are in possession
HOW – What are the principles when we are in possession in our defensive half? TEAM TASKS / PLAYER TASKS
Create space and passing lines to maintain possession
Combine short passes to unbalance the opposition and penetrate
Change the point of attack when we can’t penetrate

THE SESSION:
Session Objective: We don’t create and use space to ‘build-up’efficiently and find players in advanced position . Service from 1 5/4 6 2/3
We are in possession and opposition set up with the 9 and four players in a high line of confrontation in our defensive half.
Why? Engaging the team and all players into the tactical outcome of the session. Warm-up so raising core body temperature, increasing heart rate and breathing, preparing muscles for activity.
What? Passing Practice,Create space and passing lines Combine short passes including dynamic stretching.
What? Organization : 20 minutes – 4 minute intervals + 1 min of dynamic stretching (4)
2 grids - 40 x24 area divided into 3 zones - Two end zone - Set up practice on both sides of the field
10 players per grid divided into two different teams (5 red/5blue) Two balls are going at the same time.
PROGRESSIONS: Explanation/Progressions
Both teams play out from 1 end zone, combine passing and receiving until they can find one player to receive into the opposite end zone. Both teams transition to play out to the opposite end zone after each phase. Repeat this process whilst integrating variations
The 3 zones must be occupied.
Players can move to another zone after passing, the space created must be filled by another player.
Pass back when not facing forward. From the 2nd interval, teams try to keep their ball & intercept (only) opponents ball, 1 point if team has both balls. Pass the ball quickly on two-touch maximum until we can release one player to run out and receive into the opposite end zone. Balance the team as the ball progresses up the field
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
Coaching - Set up the learning environment. Prepare players physically and mentally
Guided discovery - Focus on Perception / Decision / Execution
Key words - Perception - Positioning before running. Recognize your role, adapt your position according to the ball /teammates/direction we want to play. Can we make sure the ball carrier has options on the left/right/centre
Decision - Can we create passing lines allowing us to have a good positional structure , keep possession and play forward? Execution - Can we combine short passes with minimal touch and find players in space in order to unbalance opposition

THE SESSION:
Why - Improve the team ability to respond to the defined problem
What - Team Task: Game Training Can we get our 2 / 3 or 8/10 in
beyond the defensive line on the ball side in controlled possession?
What - Organization Organization : 20 Minutes - 6 minute intervals (3)
Team structures: 11 v 9 (1-4-3-3 vs 3-1-4-1) , 1 end zone – 10 beyond the middle line / Full width

Coaching Manage opposition - Assistant coach / Script, Guided discovery, guided questions
Solution oriented thinking (cues - player tasks) Player Tasks
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
Key wordsDealing with a high and aggressive first defensive line
Dealing a defensive line forcing us to play one way
1 – Can you play into the free defender who is not marked by the opposition 9? Recognize where is space and where to create numerical advantage / drive the ball and look for space / pass and support CBs ou CM
4/5 – Can you be in a position to receive from the GK and play the 2/3 or 8/10 as soon as possible?
6 - Can you Provide support by dropping between 4/5 and creating an overload situation to progress into middle third (ex: when opposition 2 strikers). Can you be in a position to change the point of attack when we can’t unbalance opponent?
2/3 - Can you start in an advanced position, dragging the opposition defender out to create space for 4/5/6?

THE SESSION:
Why - Observe improvement in player behavior. Are they able to recognize and apply what have been shared in stage 2 and stage 3 in real game situation?
What - Training game Improve the team ability to build up in the defensive third against opposition’ s high line of confrontation
What - Organization - Organization : 20 Minutes - 9 minute
intervals (2)
11v11 with Laws of the Game
Coaching Observation – Focus on what happens 'off the ball' and look at the process of creating time and space to control the ball, develop possession and positions, and create attacking opportunity.
Side line coaching Guided questions during playing and natural stoppages Team Tasks
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
Key words - When in possession in our defensive half Organize the team offensive structure
Maintain possession and combine passes to unbalance the opposition and penetrate / Recognize the moment to change the point of attack , Upon winning the ball . Can we exploit space behind the opposition’s defensive block/line without compromising ball possession. If no, can we create passing lines and move the ball out from the pressure zone
When we lose the ball - Quick transition into Defending position. - Organize the Team defensive structure , Regain possession as early as possible . if we can’t, Recover quickly to reorganize the Team behind the ball. Compact and aggressive team shape denying opposition ball progression
OBJECTIVE : Can we apply these principles and tasks in real game situation - Get our 2 / 3 or 8/10 in beyond the defensive line and unbalance opponent?

KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
What: i want to make sure the player know that what we are doing is looking to play out of the pressing team that is closing them down the ball together in a pair as a unit .
