Juggling Warm-Up (5 mins)

Organization:

15x30 yard grid, each Players in groups.

Instructions:

- Players juggle in a specific pattern or sequence.

Coaching Points:

- Players try to improve their touches (suppleness, control and foot-eye coordination) by juggling with different surfaces of their feet & body.

Main Theme (30 mins)

Organization:

- 10x20 yard area

- Passer, Attacker, Defender, Target

Instructions:

- Defender must start the play behind the attacker until the ball is passed.

- Attacker checks away first to create space.

- As Attacker makes eye contact/connection with Passer, look to check back towards the ball.

- Passer plays ball into the feet of the Attacker who looks to spin the Defender.

- Attacker plays the ball into the feet of the Target who dribbles back to become the Passer.

- Rotation: Passer - Defender - Attacker - Target.

Coaching Points:

- Creating space – movement away from the ball

- Checking to the ball (2 moves, 1 for defender, 1 for ball)

- Angle of approach

- Check shoulder/feel for defender to see which side defender is showing

-Taking ball with the front foot (nearest one to the ball)

- Rolling with inside or outside of the foot based around the which side the defender is favoring

-Decision making (front foot or back foot)

- Head up to locate and determine next action

Progressions:

- Remove Target player and replace with a Goal

-Have passer become a support player that the 1st attacker can pass to if under too much pressure from the defender, in order to maintain possession

Conditioned Game (25 mins)

Organization:

Half Way line is the retaining line. 2v2 in each half of the field.

Instructions:

2v2 in each half of the field.

Coaching Points:

- Agility and quickness checking to the ball

- Look to disguise run as checking to the ball

- Unbalance defender creating separation

- Use defender's momentum against them to get in behind

-Taking ball wit the front foot (nearest one to the ball)

-Rolling with inside or outside of the foot based around the which side the defender is favoring

-Decision making (front foot or back foot)

Progression

-Remove retaining line constriction
