Attacking Gates (10 min)
Organization: One field 40x25,
gates scattered around the field, balls
Have each player with a ball and scatter gates around the field.
When the coach says go, the players try to attack and go through as
many gates as possible. This is your chance to introduce key attacking
principles like big touch vs small touch, changing direction, and constantly
scanning the field, in which all 3 will be present in this activity.
PROGRESSIOIN: Players must now alternate what foot they use whenever they go
through a gate to promote using both feet.
PROGRESSION: tell the group that they must achieve a certain amount of points before
a certain time period, if they do not achieve the goal, they must do a forfeit (Star jumps x 5 )
Coaching Points: attacking with speed, change of direction, not turning your back on the defender, big touch
vs small touch. Confidence on the ball.

with speed. The defender (Red) runs out to meet the attacker, creating
a 1v1 situation. Introduce proper attacking principles to find success.
Coaching points : attacking with speed, change of direction, not
turning your back on the defender, big touch vs small touch. Confidence
on the ball.
PROGRESSION: Add a time constraint for the attackers, to encourage
real game situations and pressure.
PROGRESSION: Change to a 2v2 where 2 attackers go at the same time,
and one defender starts behind the two attackers for pressure behind their backs
with a couple second delay. This is also to encourage the attackers to attack with
speed with game like pressure from behind.
