defending as a compact and combined unit. all units combine to become difficult to break down in central areas by not allowing space between lines for attackers to receive the ball or space for players to dribble or create shooting chances. focus from compact from back 4 and then midfield in defensive third and central areas.

DEFENSIVE PRINCIPLES
Yellows pass or dribble the ball to find a player in the middle zone to shoot or cretae chances to score.
reds stay compact and try to counter by dribbling the ball over the halfway line.11 v 8 gk and 9 are locked in zones. practicing a 1,4,3,3 formation.
1) eliminate shooting oppurtunities from central areas by being compact and connected with midfield units. wide players 7 & 11drop back to make a 1-4-4-1-1. full backs go narrow. no spaces between vertical or horizontal units. 5-6 & 9 call the stepp up. allow the ball to travel in wide areas. consolidate when opposition players attempt to dribble through lines.
2) Defensive transitions, hopw quickly can we become a compact unit after trying to apply pressure in the first 6 seconds after losing the ball in their defensive 3rd.
3) ball side goal side; track runners and communicate to pass the on.
make efforts to win the ball first in 1v1 or lose ball defending situations.
