Description

Maintaining possession using the overload, keeping our width and dept by using the zoned areas.

Can our 2CMs create space in-front by staying high. (dept) Always moving and trying to create passing lanes and angles to receive.

Know when to delay the pass to draw in the pressure & when to increase the tempo if we can break their line of pressure.

Quick T2D being extremely important for when we lose possession in our build up.

Organisation : Playing out from the back zoned phase

For a 14231 formation

Our objective is to play out from the back, focusing on maintaining possession and moving the ball fluidly, our target is to get 8 passes successfully and then scoring into the small goal.

Once we have reached our target of 8 passes can we break the line of pressure by going with either: centrally/recycle/switch of play/wide areas and then score.

Opposition to press and stay within there zones and not allowed to enter any zone especially wide! (Encourage to cut off lanes)

When they intercept the ball can they T2A into the big goal (May need to give a countdown)

Team we are working with need to T2D quick, closest man applying pressure and maybe delaying to allow other players gett set and compact in relation to where the ball is on the pitch.

Coaching Points:

1. Quality - Passing/Weight of pass/backfoot or Frontfoot, touch/direction of touch/body shape to maintain possessio.

2. Move into spaces to create good angles to receive the ball. (Show and explain half space on tactics board)

3. Scanning - Make sure your aware if been marked.

4. Team pressing, Work together in a wolf pack, no single press, stay attached, cut lanes.

5. Ruthless in front of goal, get a yard and hit the target.

Notes:

Keeper must stay active and be a picot and communicate with the 2 CBs, angles and distances are very important to offer support for defender when under pressure.

Don't be scared to skip a line when under pressure and have no options (praise for good decision) if this happens coach at the back gives to other side and blues T2D quick.

Player Questions:

1. How does body shape help you receive the ball in space?

2. Can you read the pattern of play while it's happening?

3. Why is our first touch so important ? (Too dictate the direction of next pass)

4. If been marked can we disguise a run or a feint to lose our marker or to create space to receive the ball comfortably.

Progressions:

1.Yellows can press/enter in any zone

2. One Blue midfielder can drop to middle zone to connect play (Like in image)

3. Increase pass amount
