Footwork is the key to this topic. GKs must be able to turn, crossover and get to ball. Tipping is secondary and is needed only if the ball is not within catching range or the GK may fall into the goal if they hold the ball based on their momentum.
- When tipping, it is important to remind the GKs to "Pop it don't stop it"

Activation #1
1. Gk Shuffles through cones
2. Sets at top cone
3. Crosses over to get back to blue cone
Activation #2
1. GK does footwork over cones
2. S1 pass ball to GK
3. GK passes ball back to S1
4. S1 passes ball back again
5. GK separates to cone
6. GK passes back to S1
7. GK crosses over to middle cone
8. GK turns direction to cross over to the blue cone.
**Progression will be to do same drill but add the ball to be thrown to the blue cone**
Activation #3
1. GK footwork on cones
2. S1 passes to GK (1touch 3Xs)
3. GK passes to S1 (1 touch, 3Xs)
4. GK crosses over towards blue cone
5. S1 throws balls back towards blue cone to the GK
6. GK must get back to catch it as if it is going for the crossbar.

Crossbar Drill
1. GK throws ball to S1
2. GK moves to middle cone
3. S1 Throws the ball towards the crossbar
4. Gk drop steps to turn sideways and uses footwork to get back
5. GK saves the ball by catching or tipping it over.

Multi Task Tipping Drill
1. GK does an up-down
2. GK Then steps to save a shot from S1
3. S1 Shots low and cone
4. GK gets up and uses footwork to get back to crossbar
5. S2 Throws ball at crossbar for GK to save
6. GK comes back and does and up-down and saves from opposite side
**Repeat 2-3 times on each side and switch

Angled crossbar tipping
1. S1 Throws ball to far post area
2. GK uses footwork to punch ball out
3. S2 simulates they received the punch and throws a ball to the far post crossbar.
4. GK crosses over towards near post then switches to the far post to make the save.

Progression
- Coach will move the ball twice to allow GK to switch from near to far post
- Coach will move the ball straight up to trigger the GKs to jump for the ball.
