Learning Objectives

Technical Technical
Focus on close ball control and three changes; direction, speed and feet.
Technical Tactical
Develops decision-making about when to dribble, which gate to attack, what moves to use all under defensive pressure.
Technical Physical
Promotes acceleration, deceleration, agility and physicality in 1v1 duels.
Technical Psychological
Challenges composure, confidence, and resilience in competitive 1v1 situations with high repetition.
Technical Social
Encourages peer learning in turn based activities and promotes teamwork in 2v1's or 2v2's.

Dribbling - Skilled Practice (10 mins)

Organisation: Set up the station as the diagram shows, removing the second blue marker in each dribbling line. Place two players at each end for 1v1s. The player positioned between the two red gates passes to the middle cone player, who must dribble through either gate to score a point. If the defender wins the ball, they must dribble to the end zone represented by the blue flat marker line.

Aims: Develop dribbling and ball control under defensive pressure, encouraging players to make quick decisions and use feints, changes of direction, and body positioning to beat an opponent.

Progressions:

-Rotate defenders and attackers frequently to expose all players to both roles.

-Progress into 2v1's and 2v2's.

Challenges:

-Introduce a time limit to increase tempo and control.

-Encourage use of weaker foot.

Coaching Intervention Strategy:

- Use drive-by coaching to provide targeted feedback on technique, positioning, and decision-making without interrupting flow.
