An SSG 8v8 is designed to assist the development of small units and the team in their understanding of unit
work and a the tactical game.
This session focuses on the decision and execution of a switch of play to create a new point of attack.
For the coach it will give information on how to coach the team on primary, secondary and fringe players engaging all players in the unit and their movements to switch the play and develop structure and shape when doing so.

Scenario 2: Switch across midfield
Organisation:
The whole team move over to the right to support A3 on the ball
Primary Players:
A3 passes to A5 who then passes to A1 who exploits space wide left
Secondary Players:
A6 and A7 move defenders to create space for A1
Coaches Focus Point:
The importance of quick movement from the team to support A3 creates space for A1 on the left

Scenario 3: Into striker's feet & switched to wide left
Organisation:
The whole team move over to support A3 on the right side of the pitch
Primary Players:
A3 plays a driven ball into the feet of A6 who supported by A4
from midfield
A4 switches the play to A7 who has created space wide away from D1
Secondary Players:
A6 spins after the pass into the space behind D2
Coaches Focus Point:
The importance of quick movement from the defending team to the right side of the pitch when A3 receives the ball
Movement of A6 to receive and hold
Support from A4

Scenario 4: No forward pass available
Organisation:
No forward pass available so must go back
Primary Players:
Movement from A2 and A1 to receive
Secondary Players:
Movement from A7 and A6 to create space for A1 to take the ball high and wide
Fringe Players:
A5 holds in midfield
All other players balance and cover positions
Coaches Focus Points:
The importance of quick decisions to realise there is no forward pass on and then retain possession

Scenario One: Diagonal Pass from Right to Left
Organisation:
GK plays to A3 and the rest of the team moves to the Right to support A3
A5 shows for the ball dragging D4 creating a corridor of space across the pitch
Primary Players:
A3 executes a long lofted ball in front of the run of A1 who exploits space on the left
Secondary Players:
A6 and A7 make runs across D1 and D2 to create space for A1
Re shape after the pass for the attack high in the attacking third
Fringe Players:
Team supports the attack, cover and balance from A2 and A3
Coaches Focus Point:
The speed of play as play is switched from right to left
