2v2s
Ball starts with one of the attackers passing to their teammate. When the pass is made, 2 defenders can start to close down the ball.
If the defender wins the ball, they can score on either mini net. If the goalkeeper saves it, play continues.

Layout:
3 teams
End grids: 15x15 (adjust for numbers)
Middle grid: 5x15
Objective:
Teams must complete 3-5 passes before playing the ball to the team in the other outside channel. the ball can be played over, through or around the defenders, as long as it lands within the next channel.
TWO VERSIONS:
Version 1: Keep the defending team in the middle for 2:00 minutes
Version 2: If one of the teams on the end loses the ball, they become the defending team. See details below...
If the defending teams kicks the ball out, the other grid gets possession and the defending team remains in the middle.
Defenders cannot enter the grid until the ball is touched
If the defending team wins the ball, secures a pass to the opposite end grid OR intercepts it in the middle channel, they become the attacking team and the team that lost possession becomes the defending team in the middle.

Aim for 20 minutes of game play
9v8 game (make it game realistic when you are deciding shape)
Focus on the team building out of the back. Start with our shape: do we have options wide and high?
*Keep in mind, we don't want our backline the full width of the field. When the goalkeeper has the ball, our defenders should be a max of 15 yards away from the ball - the shorter passes we have building out of the back, the more secure we will be moving forward.
When the defenders receive the ball, there should be an option wide and in the middle.
Switch which direction teams are attacking.
Coaching Points
We want to encourage our players to try and ALWAYS be an option for a pass. Just because you do not have the ball, doesn't mean your job is done - arguably - it's the most important time to be active and find a space to receive the ball.
Player with the ball: Before you received it, did you scan to see a) where your teammates are b) who is available c) where you need to take your first touch in order to secure a pass d) if you are dribbling, can you get your head up to find a pass
Players WITHOUT THE ball: Can you move into a space where you can receive the ball? If you are being marked, how can you create space again? Prepare your body shape so when you receive the ball, you can go into the space that is open

Set up grids shown above (5x5 square) and 1 cone on each side of the square about ~8-10 yards away. Adjust to the size of your group.
End passers are playing to the furthest player in the square. When the ball goes into the furthest player in the square, the other player should work to get underneath the ball to play it out to the opposite end player.
Variations:
You can get the nearest player to receive the ball, open up and play a give and go inside the square.
Switch players in the middle after ~2:00 minutes.
