Organization: Set area per diagram, approx 25x25, with pug nets/gates at corners. 9 - 10 players
Activity. With 3 teams, one team outside neutrals, one as attacking, and one as defending. Neutrals and attacking team start with ball and pass around maintaining possession. Attacking team gets point every time they string together a certain number of passes. If defending team wins ball, they can get point by scoring in any of the corner pug nets/gates.
Progression: Keep only 2 neutrals on the outside, add 1 to the middle as an extra defender. Pug nets/gates, both teams can score.
Coaching Points:
Encourage first defender to challenge ball quickly.
Ask defending team to support the defender attacking the ball.
Position themselves behind and centrally to take away passing lanes through the middle.
Are they in a position to cut off a pass if it is made?

Organization: Set up per diagram. Smaller box approx 7x7 within a larger box approximately 20x20. 8-10 players.
Activity: Start with a 3v1 game in smaller box, if the defender wins ball they play ball out into the larger box to their teammates to create a 4-6v3 possession game. Allocate a number of passes for attackers that makes a point. If defenders win ball they must complete a pass to a teammate in the original box to get point.
Coaching Points:
Encourage the original 3 attackers to transition quickly to close in on the ball. Who is first to ball, supporting and balancing?
If the pass is made to a new attacker, can defenders get compact to block passing lanes and get in position to become the defender that closes in?
Encourage movement as a unit and communication.
