3v1 into 4v2 Invasion Rondo15 mins

Player Actions: First touch, using 1st touch to freeze defender, touch direction, passing, scanning, movement to support, timing

Sub-Principle: Move to create the pass; Create passing shapes to support possession

Main Principle: Use sustained possession to control the ball and advance attacking shape into oppositions half

Activity:

Start with coach playing into the 3v1 grid. Players in possession play 2-touch and look to complete 5 passes. After the 5th consecutive pass, player passes into next grid into the 1v1 for the 3 to join the single player creating a 4v2 in the next box. Players look to complete as many passes in the minute once in the 4v2. If 2 out of possession players win the ball, restart the activity with the 3v1

- Coaching Emphasis:

- Use two touch or one touch passing at the right time, use touch to freeze the defending player then play to the free man; use one touch to speed up the possession and quickly cut out the defending player

- Target player anticipates the pass sequence and works to create separation from his marker while also keeping depth in the space to allow players space and time to come into the next grid and support possession

- Emphasize creating and keeping triangle and diamond shape in support of the ball to provide multiple passing options

3v3 + 3 Possession Activity15 mins

Player Actions: First touch, touch direction, passing, scanning, movement to support, timing

Sub-Principle: Move to create the pass; Create passing shapes to support possession

Main Principle: Use sustained possession to control the ball and advance attacking shape into oppositions half

Activity:

End-line player starts activity by passing in to designated team in possession; each player has two touches; goal is for the in possession team to keep possession as long as possible in the 1:30 game. Only stipulation on the game is touch restriction and the end-line player once playing inside the grid, cannot be used until another person inside the grid gets a touch or possession.

- Coaching Emphasis:

- Positioning of players inside to create triangles & diamonds with the players on the end-line; movement of players to get underneath the ball to create 1-2, up-back-thru's, and short-short-long combinations

- Movement off the ball to create and find 3rd man passing combinations

Angles of support to not be directly in front of the end-line player and to play at angles that allow for 3rd man passing and progressive passing higher up the field.
