slowing down the attack

moving onto 2v1 defending
this drill favours the defenders but there is still work to be done
once again do not interfere to begin with and let the game play out
ball is passed into the red player and he must take on the two defenders and fire a low driven pass into the goal keeper
once the ball is won the defenders must play it back to there own team
time: 10 minutes

advanced 2 v 1 defending
after the first 10 minutes you will notice the defenders win most of them but probably not all of them explain to the players how to tactically defend as a two
defender 1 who is closest to the ball will use the side on approach in the direction of his other defending team mate
once the attacker has taken that route down that side of the channel the first defender can attempt to take the ball off of the attacker while defender 2 will stay slighty deeper.
either:
1) defender 1 will take the ball from from the attacker
2) or the attacker will push the ball past the first defender and get tackled by defender 2
this defending technique will not work if the defenders are flat, defender 2 must stay deeper than defender 1 and pressure must be put on the defender once he has chosen to go down that channel.
time: 15m

2 v 2 in the exact same drill
this time the defenders must block off the pass to the defender and both work down the same side to stop the attacker
the second defender may have to sit deeper for a possible switch, if this does happen then they should have more time to move over and have another go at defending the attack
this defending techniquecan work either side of the channel
time: 15 minutes

2v2 with the keeper
this time the attackers have been given more space to attack to, the defenders know how to defend
time: 15 minutes
