Timings:

·       15minutes.

Primary focus:

·       Area1: Players cutting inside using the outside of their right foot and aiming for the right corner of the goal.

·       Area2: Getting the weight of the pass-through correct and then beating the goal keeper with the shot.

·       Area3: Moving the ball to the right, setting yourself and aiming across the goalkeeper into the left corner.

·       All three areas: keeping the ball close to the body, using lots of little touches, then moving the ball out of feet and getting the shot of quickly.

Expectations:

·       Short, sharp burst of energy with a variety of shots on goal to score.

·       Concentration.

·       Full focus.

·       Using the correct technique for that specific area.

Conditions:

·       Must do what is instructed for each area, no changes allowed.

Progressions (Harder):

1.     Moving the cones further back.

2.     Area2: after the pass, the player must use a first-time shot.

3.     All areas: the player receives a through ball from a teammate and then completes the task.

Regressions (Easier):

1.     After a player has completed area 2, they will run back around and through the cones as a player at area number 3 dribbles past their cones, runs beyond them and then cuts the ball back to the other player for a cross. (Area 3.1)

Success criteria:

·      Players are using the correct technique to get past the cones and then the correct technique for that specific shot.

·      High percentage of shots on target.

·      Goals being scored and in in the correct part of the goal.

Coaching interventions used throughout:

·       Freeze– Stopping the practice when needed.

·       Walkthrough– Used when the session has been frozen. I will show the players how I want the session to look and explain how to deal with specific situations that may arise during this session.

Fly by – Constant verbal feedback while the session is going on, without stopping the session.

Mainly concurrent feedback will be used.
