Two turns at a cone (15 mins)
Turning at cones Relay
Equipment: 4 cones per group. and a ball. 4 players per group.
Setup: Set up 2 cones 15 yds apart. Place 2 additional cones slightly to each side. Right side at 10 yds and left side at 10 yds.
Activity: Ball starts with player A who dribbles towards Cone 1. As they approach the cone perform a turn of the coaches choice i.e. outside cut and accelerate out to cone 2 where they perform another turn of coaches choice i.e. inside cut and play a pass to player B and jog to the back of line B. Player B repeats drill in the opposite direction dribbling to cone 2 first to make their turn then to cone 1 for another turn before playing a pass to player A and jogging back to the end of line A.
Progression - Change turns as desired i.e. pull backs, kruyff etc...
Coaching points:
Dribbling head up
Part of foot for turn
Plant foot
Accelerate out of turn
Shoulder check for pressure.
