Warm up (10 mins)

Organization:

Lots of gates in a open space

Instructions:

The players will have a ball at feet and will learn to do a few dribbling exercises with the ball as well the players will do a dynamic warm up.

Players will defend the cones and the player needs to try and dribble past them.

Coaching Points:

-All players with a ball

-dribbling with different speed

-close control of the ball

Technical (10 mins)

Instructions:

A and B pass back and forth. Whenever either player stops the ball the other must defend them 1v1.

Coaching Points:

- Quick pressure

- Slow down on approach

- Side on position, bend knees

- Eyes on ball

Progressions:

- Receiving player now dribbles across to where defender started from. Defender must move feet quickly and stay between attacker and the endline. How far up the field can we confront the attacker?

Game conditioned (20 mins)

Organization:

1v1 with 2 small goals.

Instructions:

The players with the ball will pass the ball and become a defender. The player receiving the ball will be the attacking player and try to score on the goal. IF the defender defends properly the defender get 1 extra point and if the ball is take away the defender is allow to score a goal for an additional goal.

Coaching Points:

1st Defender:

- Speed to press ball

- Defensive position, Eyes on ball, Stay low

- Force play left or right

- Be patient, waiting for the cues to make a tackle
