Football/Soccer Session (Advanced): Switching Play - How to move the ball from side to side to destabilize and create isolations
Description
What: When overloads are created, in outside channels can we switch the ball through the low points to create isolations
Where: Middle and Final third
Who: (1-3-5-2) - primarily Wingbacks, 3 midfielders, forwards
When: The ball is in an outside channel with no clear number superiority.
Why: Teaching players to recognize when we have lost number superiority, and need to look to switch the ball to create isolations in wide areas.

Organization:
- set up a 45x35 yard box
- Inside it is 6v6 with 2 neutrals. Outside there 1 player high for each team with 2 neutrals on the outside of the area.
- 3 goals evenly placed on outside at either end.
Instructions:
- 6 goal game - 4 neutrals on two touches. Neutrals can score.
- Teams should look to switch the ball to create openings on the mini goals.
- If a goal is scored through switching both sides it counts as 1 point.
- If the ball goes to one side, and is bounced of the striker then the goal counts as 2.
- 4x3 minute games, 2x3 minute no scoring restrictions.
Coaching Points:
- Technical detail, two touches to switch us quickly.
- Find the space and separate from defenders.
- Short passes to invite pressure, CM across to help us switch.
- Hips open, always see the ball and potential switch.
- Head up, scan ahead to see central option.

- add pass amount until goal can be scored

- set up half a field (channel indicators optional)
- Inside it is 7v7 with 2 neutrals at the half way line.
- 3 goals evenly placed across the half way line.
Instructions:
- Play starts with coach playing into one of the blue team CMs.
- Blue are looking to score in main goal
- the white team will look to counter and score in one of the 3 small goals. the neutrals will bounce the ball for a 1st time finish before
- Score from entering 1 channel - 1 point
- score from entering 2 channels - 2 points
- score from entering all 3 channels - 3 points
- 4 minute rounds with 30 second rest

- Inside it is 11v9
- Channel indicators optional
Instructions:
- Ball will enter the from keeper into one of the 3 CBs. (there will be no throw-ins.
- Both teams are trying to score with regular FIFA rules
- 2 points for the ball hitting both outside channels

- Exploit the space 1v1/2v1 in outside channels
- respect roles and responsibilities given through session

- play the way we face unless the pass released the pressure
