1v1 Attack to Defend
Set up:
2 channels as shown with a goal at opposite ends. Black team lined up with a ball each on one end of the left channel with red team lined with a ball each on the right channel.
Instructions:
Play starts with one black player attacking the goal in left channel against one red defender. When the black player scores, the ball goes out of play or the red player wins the ball, the black player must immediately transition and defend a red player entering in the right channel to repeat the same process on the opposite side. Every time a players scores a goal, they get a point for their team. Players must return to their line with a ball.
Coaching emphasis:
1v1 attacking - attack quickly, take defender on. Take your chance to score when it presents itself.
Defensive transition - immediate reaction to losing possession to press the opposite attacking player.
Attacking transition - immediate reaction to play ending on the opposite side to attack quickly and take as much space as possible before the defender can recover.
1v1 defending - Press, force one way from arms length distance. Win the ball! Which direction should you force the attacker to help your team?

1v1 - 2 Goals
Player 1 passes to player 2 and then closes them down.
Player 2 attempts to score by dribbling through the cones (not shooting) in either of the 2 goals.
Can be used for dribbling, dragging or turning as your theme of the session.
Depending on the theme, encourage the attacker to use that skill in the session.
After each go, players switch sides.
Progressions
1. If defending players wins the ball they can dribble through the cones to score.
2. Player must complete a skill move before scoring.

Set-Up
- Players are divided into 3 teams (increase to 4 teams if there are more than 9 players
- 3 Goals
- Balls with coach
Version 1
Number the players 1-4. 1 player at a time goes onto the field for each team when the coach calls their number. They play 1 vs 1 vs 1. When someone is scored on, that player is eliminated and the next player from that team comes onto the pitch. New player starts with the ball and play continues. When a whole team is eliminated, the last 2 teams play 1 vs 1 until only 1 team is left with any players.
Version 2
Each player on the color is given a number (try to make each colors best player #1, etc to make it fair. Coach calls out a number and those players play till there is a goal or the coach deems it has gone too long. Each team starts at 0. If you score, your team goes +1 and if your team is scored on your team goes -1. This way we will have some teams play together as it may be +3 to -1 to -2 and strategy comes into play. Mix it up by calling out 2 or 3 numbers at a time. (variation, if the goals are large, the remaining players not called out can be the goalie with no hands and arms interlocked. Can they work together to take some of the goal away? This added piece can be fun, especially with the younger ones)
