Bridge Game (30 mins)

Set Up:

Make a bridge using cones that goes from one end of the playing area to the other.

Each end of the bridge is a safe zone. The kids must always stay on the bridge, water is under the bridge and they will get washed away (kick their ball away).

Description:

To begin, just get the kids familair with the bridge, make them run to the other end of the bridge, making sure that no kids fall over the edge. Repeat a couple of times.

Now introduce each player with a ball, ask them to dribble to the other side with the ball. They have to cross the bridge to get to 'Work". So they must cross the bridge, both ways, 5 times MON-FRI.

Progression: When they cross the bridge they must take a piece of equipment with them in each hand, and drop off at 'Work'

Progression: There was a storm overnight and it has blown lots of obstacles over the bridge, ask the players, with a ball, to dribble around all the obstalces to get to 'Work', using different skills, ball rolls etc.

Progression: Players must clean up the bridge and collect all the obstalces that have blown onto the bridge.

Progression: The storm woke up a troll (coach) living under the bridge. Now the players must get across the bridge as fast as they can otherwise the troll will kick their ball back to the start.

Coaching Points:

Dribbling technique. small touches close to the body so the ball stays on the bridge.

Notes: This game is just for fun for the kids. It's up to the coach to really make the story work. Lots of energy, be creative. This game can be adapted in many ways.
