These 3 small sided games encourage positive connections and passing lanes for the teams.
The fact that each team has even numbers focuses on the players trying to create 2v1s over the pitch.
Key things to watch out for and encourage:
- Creating 2v1
- Passing more than dribbling
- Movement off the ball (unselfish leading)
- Intention vs execution (was the idea a positive one, but failed in execution, or was it the wrong skill to do at the wrong time? Think about % of success and risk : reward ratio)
Defensively:
- 1v1 battles
- Dynamic in defence (feet moving, not planted)
- Channelling away from goal (or to desired turnover zone)
Feel free to increase or decrease the numbers in each team (but keep numbers equal).
Change the pitch dimensions (longer vs shorter, wider vs narrower)
Place limitations into the game play:
- 3 touches only
- Pass and get in front of the ball (towards attacking goal)
- Forehand only (no reverse stick skills or dribbling)

4 v 4 broken down in to a 2v2 inside the box, with 2 players on each side outside of the box.
The idea of the game is for the outside players to connect with the inside players with the outcome getting the ball to the person on the opposite side of the box.
Both teams are going in different directions (Blue up and down, Orange left to right)
Once a successful connection has been made to the outside of the box, the player who made the pass swaps to the outside.
Make it competitive by adding points for each success (first team to 10 points, loser does a punishment)

6v6 game.
Aim: Score a goal but remain in zones and depth.
Limitations:
- Only 2 players from each team can be in each zone
- Players are allowed to swap zones, if someone fills the zone they moved out of. E.g. Blue player leaves zone 1 into 2, so someone from zone 2 has to fill the gap in zone 1.
Blue team scoring in the top goal, Orange team scoring at the bottom goal.

3v3 short and wide
3v3 game in side an 1/8 of a pitch (pitch size can vary to make it long and narrow, or short and wide etc).
Aim:
- Score a point by making a successful connecting pass through your coloured cone goals
(Orange scoring through red cones, Blue scoring through blue cones).
Rollover - once a goal is scored turn and attack the other cones.
Key points:
- be direct where possible, but still use width
- Create 2v1
