General
Mode: TEAM TRAINING 8V8 no GK's (Matchday -2/-3)
Blues in 4-3-1-2 (No CB's) Reds opposition 4-4-2 (No 9's x2)
Topic Defensive principles - Dealing with wide roations and FFB
Preventing the opposition playing through, protecting central areas. Understand when and how to stop the switch by forcing the direction of play, leaving the furthest player/s.
On winning possession, can we counter quickly, by securing first pass OR retain possession and build up with quality and patience.
Organisation / Area Size:
60m x 50m (this may vary due to age/ability of the players and the physical demands required)
Play 8v8 no GKs
Play 4 x 4 minute periods with 2 min break in each time out.
Explanation:
The opposition in possession have to play through/around/over. If they get the ball into a shaded area the blues have to use this area to prevent the switch. This will give the coach the opportunity to work on the defensive principles of stopping a switch of play / dealing with a switch of play. The red team here are illustrated as occupying two out of the three zones to limit the space and time of the players in possession. If the red team win the ball they must then counter attack under a managed countdown by the coach or retain possession.
Teams can 'score' by:
1. The blue teams attacking objective it to score in the 3 goals as ther eare no GKs.
By playing through, Playing around, Playing over.
2. The reds on gaining the ball will get a GOAL if they score from a counter attack in either goal or run into zone.
Challenges, Conditions & Targets
The red team out of possession MUST fill 2 out of the three zones when defending leaving the furthest player/s. They are also challenged with scoring from a counter attack within 5-8 seconds.
BLOCK 1 - Problem 1: Switch of play - Dealing with FB deep or high.
BLOCK 2 - Problem 2:DL as FFB - FB high/WMF inside
BLOCK 3 - Problem 3: Switch play over or play behind.
BLOCK 4 - RANDOM PROBLEMS FROM ABOVE 3.
What if: The FB drives inside or CB steps in with ball.
Individual Targets:
9's/10 to be option to counter and at least 2 looking to run behind opposition back line.
