Aim: Improve player’s ability to manipulate the movement of a ball.
Drill: Each player has a ball inside the square. Player’s begin by dribbling around the grid using different parts of both of their feet. The coach can change to the conditions e.g. only right foot, or only inside of foot.
Development: Introduce change of direction and change of speed as part of the 1 v 1 focus. Show fakes, step-overs Cruyff turn
Key Points: Focus on correct technique before speed. Work on getting the movements correct at walking speed before increasing to a jog.
Encourage players to get as many touches on the ball as they can.
The aim of this activity is to make players comfortable on the ball so that they feel confident in any situation.

Aim
Develop player's dribbling and close control
Enhance player's sense of awareness in a game like situation
Activity
Players are split into two teams and lined up at the ends of the grid
When the coach calls out a number the two players with that number run into the grid and try to get the ball. The first player to successfully dribble into the end zone (A and B) and stop the ball wins a point. E.g. if the coach calls out 6, the player numbered 6 from each team both race to obtain possession of the ball
Progressions
The coach can call out multiple numbers (e.g. 1 and 2) to add passing and teamwork to the drill
The coach can roll the ball to give one player a chance to attack the other at pace
Key Points
Players need to keep the ball close to their body and in control when in possession
Once in possession a player should attack the defender at pace- stopping or slowing down will increase the defenders chance of a successful tackle
Defenders should try to show the attacker one way i.e. towards the sideline cutting off the pathway to the end zone

Aim: To apply the skills developed in the session under an increased amount of pressure.
Drill: Players are split into four even teams and then split into two games. Players then play games against each other with the coach maintaining the focus of the session.
Key Point: Players are encouraged to take on players where they can.
Decision making is brought into the drill when players need to decide whether to pass or run with the ball.
Players are encouraged to communicate with team mates to improve decision making.

SAQ (Speed, Agility & Quickness)
Aim: To improve players speed, agility and their ability to move dynamically.
Drill: Players are given different movements through the ladder e.g. single step in ladder, two steps in ladder, sideways etc.
Once the player moves through the ladder the coach plays them a pass, the player first touch needs to be outside the line of the cones, with their second being a pass back to the coach.
Key Points: The focus during the fast feet phase is on the player being light on their feet and executing the skill with fast, controlled movements.
The focus for the first touch phase is getting the ball out of their feet to the side and making an accurate pass back to the coach.
Some groups will use cones or poles instead of ladders. The drill still follows the same focus.
