Out of Possession - Active Positions for SSG (4-3) (Base 4-3-3)
In Possession - Active Positions for SSG (2-2-3) (Base 3-4-3)
Organization:
Half Field. Create two vertical lanes, one in each wide channel. Additional lane cutting the field horizontally. Team in possession has areas typically occupied by RB & LB blocked off.
Ball Placement - In Goals
Conditions, Targets, Challenges:
In Possession - Due to a low block, the in possession team must go around in order to draw the opponent out of position or perform an up back through motion to penetrate the middle and evade the press.
Out of Possession - Sit in a low block, only sitting in the middle zone, one player can press CB's. Force the opponent wide. If won, attack the opponents goal within 6 seconds and score to get 2 points. The opposing team can now score from anywhere.
Conditions -
In Possession - ONLY wingers allowed in the wide channels. Forward and CAM’s stay in the middle zone in build-up.
Out of Possession - Defensive line holds the line on the 18 yard box and the three midfielders cannot leave the central zone to press the opponent CB’s.
Progression:
In Possession - When being pressed, look to play through and around the opposition based on pressure on the ball. 2 points for successfully breaking a line and scoring a goal from evading the press.
Out of Possession - Back Line steps up in line with off-field aid, one midfielder can press outside of the central zone. 3 points if scored from a press.
Learning Objectives:
In Possession -
- Make the pitch big (Width and Depth)
- Use limited touches and move the ball quickly
- Play through and over the opposition based on pressure on the ball
Out of Possession -
- Stay narrow
- Prevent split passes
- Protect the space in behind
