Passing Square
Players will be put into partners and they need 1 ball per pairing. Each pairing will also have a square. The player in the middle of the square will be the one working while the player on the outside will be the server.
Progression:
1. The sequence will start with 3 passes back and forth in the middle (if possible 1 touch each). Once the three passes have occurred, the inside player will check outside of the box to the left. Once they are outside of the box and in front of the cone the server will pass the ball to their outside foot. The inside player will pass the ball back (1 touch if possible) and will then return to the middle. They will then make 1 more pass inside, and check out to the other side of the box. Once they have gone left and right, the sequence will reset.
2. The sequence will start with the 3 passes in the middle again. This time, players will be working with the colours of the squares. We will start with the red, after the 3 passes the inside player will check out like the first progression and 1 touch it back after they are outside the square. They will then return to the middle for 1 more pass. After they have made one pass inside, they will go backwards to the back of the square. Once they have received the ball, they will take a touch to the outside of the square, where they will pass the ball beside the square to the server who will pass it back, for the working player to bring it back centrally.
3. The sequence will be exactly the same as progression 2 but it'll be working with the yellow cones instead.
Coaching Points:
- When passing lock your ankle
- Planted foot should be pointing towards target
- Follow through should be in the direction you want the ball to go
- On your toes, and shuffle to move from space to space
