Method:
A. Coach throws ball to keeper within high arm reach. Keeper controls ball with opposite hand and pushs back to Coach. (For throw to left side, use right hand to control) Repeat on the other side
Repeat x 10
B. Keeper feeds ball in a figure 8 through their legs.
C. Keeper on knees. Coach serves ball to right for keeper to slide save and push back. Keeper recovers to slide save a shot to their left.
Repeat x 10
D. Keeper starts on knees. Coach serves ball to right for keeper to slide save and push back. Keeper recovers to their feet to gather a slow lob to their left. Alternate sides
Repeat x 5 on each side.5.
E. Keeper on knees on end line. Three servers - 1 in front at 5m. The remaining two on the endline each side of the keeper at 5m.
- 1. Front Server delivers ball along the ground to the keepers right. Keeper pushes back
- 2 Keeper adjust by 90 degrees to their right to receive a delivery ball along the ground from their right endline server. Keeper pushes ball back to server.
- 3 Front Server delivers ball along the ground to the keepers left. Gather and pushes back.
- 4 Keeper adjust by 90 degrees to their left to receive a delivery ball along the ground from the server to their left . Keeper pushes ball back
F. Three upright poles or cones. 1metre apart.
1. Keepers starts on left of middle pole or cone and moves fast feet 360 degrees round the left cone or pole. Face catch from volley.
2. Keepers starts at front of their left pole or cone. Duck backward around the left pole or cone.
Comes forward to front of middle cone or pole and backwards around their right cone or pole. Come to front of right pole or cone for a high catch.
Coaching Points:
Getting feet and hands moving.
Move quickly and stopping quickly under control.
