Objective
Create in-game overloads
Setup
Set up a pitch for a 5 v 5. Around the outside of the pitch have 6 balls on cones. If a player loses the ball that is in play, they must go and get it and bring it back. Any player from the other team can then grab any of the balls scattered around the field and continue playing. This creates an overload as when one player is getting the ball they lost, the other team have more players on the field giving them chance to attack the overload.
Progressions
- Take balls away from cones around the edge so attacking team need to think more
- Limit touches on the ball
- When the ball is won back, set a time limit for a goal
- If you commit a foul, 30 seconds off the field

2 v 1's (20 mins)
2v1 Attacking
Objective:
Introduce overload situations where attackers have more players than defenders
Setup:
Set up 2 small pitches 15x20 with two attackers and one defender. The two attackers attempt to dribble and pass to beat the defender and score. The defender must try and stop them from scoring by winning the ball or by kicking it out of play. Swap defenders every 5 minutes with 1 minute rest in between rounds so everybody gets a chance to attack the goal.
If the defending team wins the ball back they earn a goal, if the attackers score that is a goal, attackers should have more points as they have more players
Progression:
Introduce a set time to score a goal to make it harder for attackers.
Add a third defender to progress even further.
