Technique Drill: Free shooting at goal following a short 1-2 pass. Aim is to ensure lots of shots which are unchallenged.
Starting the drill: Players to group within their teams. 1 player from each team to go to #2 and remaining players in single file behind #1.
Running the drill: Pass to be made from #1 to #2, player should to run into space. Pass from #2 to #3 where player should control the ball and shot at goal. Player who has taken the shot should then go to #1 and the player who was at #2 should join the back of the line behind #1. For each goal that is scored in the large goal 2 points are gained. For each point that is scored in the smaller goals, 1 point is gained.
Run the drill for 2 minutes intervals and allow a 30 second recovery, repeat.
Mechanics
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progression: Add 2 cones between the large goals creating a gate. If a goal is scored through the gate, an additional point is gained. Add a large cone in the goal, if a player hits the large cone, an additional point is gained. Add a mannequin to create an obstacle.
Regression: Remove the passing player from #2. Add cones forming a square, player to dribble to square, stop ball and shoot.
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
Can a player passing from #2 make it a bad pass creation realism within a game ?
Can a player shoot and/or pass using their weaker foot ?
Can player touch the ball into the direction of the goal upon receivinga pass ?
Can a player perform a skill before shooting ?
Can a player score within the top bins of a goal ?
Team with the most points win the round.
Coach Support
C = Potential coaching positions to observe.
Coach to monitor expected mechanics and ensure they are being followed. If an intervention is required, this could be perform on a 1-1 basis, sub-group or the entire group.
Balls should be made available near #1.

Progressing Free Shooting #1 to a blend of technical & skill drill.
Starting the drill: Each player from a team (red and blue) should number themselves 1 > 4 (based on 4 players). Player 1 should go in goals and remaining players to #1.
Running the drill: Follow the steps listed as per the Free Shooting 1 Drill. The smaller goals are only in place to catch any missed shots. For each goal that is scored (in the large goals), 1 point is gained.
Run the drill for 2.5 minutes and the next player should go in goals. Ensure all players take their turn in goals.
Mechanics
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progression: Tie a bib to the cross-bar, if a goal is scored and the bib is hit, then a player could earn an additional point. Shots to be made from a further distance. Passes from #2 to be chipped in and a first time volley attempted. Players to attempt a first time shot.
Regression: Remove the passing player from #2. Add cones forming a square, player to dribble to square, stop ball and shoot.

Skill Drill: Which should give players the opportunity to beat players in a 1 v 1 scenario. Aim is for players to beat a defender and get a shot at goal.
Starting the drill: Blue team to #1 & red team to #2. Players should also remember the number that was allocated to them in the previous drill. If not, ask player to re-number themselves again. Player 1 from both teams to go in goals.
Running the drill: Player 2 from the blue team to run towards red goal and have a free shot. After shot has been made, player 2 from the red team to run blue goal. Player 2 from blue, becoming the defender should aim to tackle player 2 from red. Player 2 from red should look to beat the defender in a 1 v 1 and shoot at goal. If a goal is scored, 1 point is gained. The smaller goals are only in place to catch any missed shots.
Run the drill for 2.5 minutes and the next player should go in goals. Ensure all players take their turn in goals.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progression: Replace the large goal with a smaller goal. Add an additional defender. Reduce pitch area, if the ball is carried into an out of bounds (OOB) area then the attack is dead.
Regression: Prevent players from becoming defenders. Add additional cones creating a box, if the ball is carried into the box then a free shot at goal can be made. The smaller goals can be brought into play to encourage additional shots.
Run the drill for 2.5 minutes and the next player should go in goals. Ensure all players take their turn in goals.
Mechanics
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
Can a player perform a skill to beat a defender ?
Can a player nut-meg a defender ?
Can a player dribble using their non-kicking foot ?
Can a player shoot using their non-kicking foot ?
Team with the most points win the round.

Progressing to a mini-game which should bring lots of shots. The aim of the mini-game is to encourage players shooting at goal.
Starting the drill: Bibs to reset, no goal-keepers during drill. Ask players to decide among themselves to select playing positions.
Running the drill: Ask the team to name a country that starts with the letter B. First team to answer correctly wins kick-off. Players should score in small goals, for each goal that is scored, 1 point is gained.
Mechanics
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progression: Players are not allowed to shoot if they pass the yellow cone. Add a large cone between the small goals and if the large cone is hit, 2 points are gained.
Regression: Add additional cones to form a square, if a ball is carried or pass received within the square a player can take a free shot at goal. Remove players to create an overload.
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
Players to limit touches to 3.
All players should touch the ball before a shot can be made.
Can a player shoot using their weaker foot ?
Coach Support
C = Potential coaching positions to observe. Monitor any players that have not taken a shot.
Coach to monitor expected mechanics and ensure they are being followed. If an intervention is required, this could be perform on a 1-1 basis, sub-group or the entire group.
Ensure balls are well stocked within the goals to allow quick restart by players.

Warm-Up: Passing (5 mins)
Warm-Up Drill: Passing between the green cones. Players should take a touch of the ball before attempting a pass. Ball to remain on the floor until progressed.
Starting the drill: Bibs to be placed on cones with a ball between each pair. Ask players to bib-up and do not move from starting station.
Running the drill: Players to pass to each other following the below mechanics. Players should control the ball before attempting a pass back.
Run the drill for 5 minutes.

Progressing: Players to switch passing foot. Players to lift the ball off the floor and perform a chip pass. Increase area size by using the red cones.
Regression: Decrease area size.

Can a player use their non-kicking foot ?
Upon receiving a pass, can a player chip the ball up and perform a keepie-upie ?
