The Session
- Ball starts with a throwing with the server, the defending team coached by me let the attacking team switch the ball from the throw in to the opposite side wide zone unopposed, shifting as a team. When the ball gets to the wide man the practice then becomes opposed.
- The aim of the defending team is to prevent the attacking team from switching the ball to the other side, defending as a team to keep the ball down one side or forcing the ball backwards.
- When the ball is one side the defending team have to move together and only defend in 3 of the 5 zones, making the pitch compact and narrow.
- When the ball is central the defedning team leave both the wide zones defending the middle 3 zones, forcing it out wide then defending from there kepping them down that side.
- If the defending team win it they try and score in one of the two mini goals.
- The attacking team tyr and switch the ball, getting crosses and shots trying to score in the big goal.
Key points for the defending team (coached)- They must only be in 3 of the 5 zones when defending, making the pitch as small as possible for the attacking team.
- Stop the attacking team from switching the ball by moving as a unit to keep the ball down one side or forcing the attacking team backwards.
- Opposite full back getting tucked in narrow when the ball is on the other side of the pitch, leaving the far 2 zones.
- Position of the two centre midfielders, getting over to help the full backs and moving together not letting a pass through the middle, force the ball backwards.
- Communication. Help eachother by giving information.
Key points for attacking team.
