2 teams, 6v6 + GK. Inside the square is a 4v4 + plus two support players, two CBs outside the box. The attacking team (Blue), must make 3 passes inside the square, before playing wide and attacking the goal. 2 Blues and the winger without the ball all attack the goal, 3 white players drop in to defend the cross. If white win the ball they have 10 seconds to score in the small goal. Progressions - 3 touch, increase pass amount, 1 touch finish only.
Coaching Points
Attacking team
- Attack the box at pace, make runs that are difficult to defend, change direction and pace.
- Play pass into space in front of the winger - Other wingers, attack the back post.
Defending team
- CBs get tight to the attacking players, deny them space to attack. - Retreating players work at 100% to cover the cross and runners.
Questions/Answers
- Why is it important to break at pace? A - very difficult to defend against. - Should we always commit so many players forward? A - Every scenario is different but if you have cover in behind you should attack in numbers.
