Description

This session focuses on passing, withparticular emphasis on accuracy; making sure that players have looked up andthat their body, stick and ball are in a strong position to make a pass ontarget.

Focus on accuracyfirst, then pace and power.

As players arrive, get them straight into stick handling - https://www.instagram.com/p/ChfX3ixjjXB/

Players can set up their own cones - have lots of stations, no queues!

Warming up - windmolen

  • The Dutch Windmill is a great stick and ball warm up to get brains and bodies engaged.
  • 2 players in the middle, 4-5 players on the outside.
  • Players in the middle start with a ball each. They can pass to anyone.
  • Once they have passed their ball, they receive the other ball from whichever player it went to. Ie, always receive the ball you have not just passed.
  • Coaches - You will need to start groups at the same time and centrally time.
  • 1 minute for each pair in the middle. They should be worked hard and feel exhausted after 1 minute!
  • If you have an odd number of players, someone can go twice in the middle.

1-1 Decathlon - Game with four goals

  • Game in pairs to get everyone moving and warmed up with stick and ball.
  • The aim of the game is to score a goal by controlling the ball in one of the two wide goals set up to their left (or right) and at the opposite end.
  • The player without the ball defends their two goals: one goal behind them and another to their right (or left).
  • The attacker starts the game.
  • The defender in the opposite goal reacts, leaves their goal and tries to prevent the attacker from scoring in either of the two goals assigned to them.
  • When the ball goes off the field or when a goal is score, the game restarts and the players change roles.
  • If there is a foul by one player, the other player is awarded a free self pass with the defender at a distance of 5m.
  • The winner is the player who scores the most goals in 3 mins.
  • Swap players around so that they face different opponents.
OBJECTIVES
  • While dribbling the ball, look up to be bale to observe and analyse the opponent's position and play.
  • Learn not to dribble the ball into the reach of a defender.
  • By dribbling the ball to one side, force the defender to move into that direction and then enter the space created with a sudden change of speed and direction.
  • Improve the technique of changing speed and direction with the ball.
  • As defenders, learn to force the attacker to dribble the ball into the desired space.

Techniek - Passing - Accurate Passing & Control

  • This game can be played by individuals, or as a team competition with 3 players per team.
  • Each player has to score from a distance of 6m through a 2m wide cone goal.
  • The coach chooses the technique, eg. push pass.
  • The ball is then received by the second player on the other side of the cone goal and returned through the goal to the third player.
  • The passer always follows their pass to the other side and waits for the next pass to come.
  • If an individual game, the player in each group to score 10 goals first is the winner.
  • If a team competition, the winning team is the group that scores 10 goals first - or the team that scores the most goals in 30 seconds.
