Function.
- Pitch layout - 2 yards outside the centre circle to create a narrow pitch as wide midfielders and FB are not needed. Also, narrow pitch will ensure good combination play between attackers is a must to beat defenders.
- Players used - Blues - GK,CB,4,8,10,9. Reds - GK,CB,CB,CM,CM,10.
- Blue GK always starts with the ball.
- Reds have 7 seconds to score when they have the ball.
Individual Player Roles/ Responsibilities;
Blues.
- GK - Stop reds scoring, act as feeder for blues. Accurate and Fast distribution to keep playing time to a maximum.
- CB - Protect GK, Mark red 10 & try to play short passes to either 4,8 or 10.
- 4 - Protect CB from CM's, Track runners when out of possession, try to play split passes between units into either 10 or 9.
- 8 - Play splt passes for 10 & 9, drop off to recieve off 4, CB and GK, always look to play forward but keep possession instead of forcing passes through and losing possession.
- 10 - aim to play between units (defence and midfield), do not stand and wait in the space, trigger to move into the space when either CB, 4 or 8 recieve the ball. Body position, side on. when on the ball look to either get a shot at goal or split pass CB for 9 to run on too.
- 9 - Play on inside shoulder of CB's, always look for ball in behind, shoot on sight.
All players: Quality of passes, decision making, movement to recieve the ball and support play, speed of play, angles of support.
What If's?
- if 9 stands outside shoulder or drops deep; can 10 run in beyond 9 and 4 or 8 look to penetrate the defence with split pass.
- if 10 is marked tightly can 9 recieve the ball first then lay it off to 10 to get in behind with a "give and go".

Small-Sided Game.
Team Objectives;
Blue Team - Score a goal using 'Link-Up' play through the Midfield. Try to Avoid using 'Long Balls/ Direct Route' (CB to Striker).
Red Team - Stop Blue team scoring by winning back the ball, try to get as near to the flat marker they started on at the begining to avoid defending from too deep. 7 Seconds to Score a goal when the ball is Won back off the Blues.
Player Roles / Key Instructions.
Blue Team;
5 & 6 ;
-Stop Oppostion scoring in the goal. Use Defensive principles (Narrow and Compact when out of possession).
- Try to play out to a MF rather than a direct pass to Striker.
- Be mindful that opposition can press straight away.
- When defending, try to show attacker outside NOT inside.
- Communicate with each other and other team mates.
8 & 4;
- Be mindful you have NO GK.
- Don't both go forward when attacking.
- Look for split passes between opposition to get attacking players in behind.
- When 7 & 11 are looking to cross the ball, look to support run by picking up space at the edge of the 18 yard area. (1 player).
- Look to drop off and receive the ball of 5 & 6 to play out from the back. ( try to be first receiver of the ball).
- Always try to be available for player in possession to pass too.
7 & 11;
- Play High and Wide when team is in possession.
- Tuck in and support CM's when team is out of possession.
- Aim to press from the front and win the ball back.
- Look for passes in behind opposition FB and CB, but also come drop in and link-up with other players.
- When crossing make sure delivery is good.
- Try to play on the outside of the FB and look for inside run between FB and CB.
- When other winger is crossing the ball, try to get into the box. (aim to be between the back post and 6 yard box, but do not over run the ball).
- Feel free to switch wings with opposite winger if BOTH players are happy to do so.
10;
- Try to play Central (between the width of the 18 yard area).
- Look to play split passes to get other forward players in behind.
- When on the ball in reasonable distance to goal, be direct. Look to shoot or penetrate back line.
9;
- Look to get in behind as often as you can by playing on the shoulder of the CB's or directly between them in the space.
- When looking to get in behind, stand side on (or half turn) this is so you are already half-way turned giving you advantage to get on the end of a pass.
- When looking to hold up play or link up with 10 or others, (playing with back to goal) try to get good posture and balance, slight bend in your knees to maximise strenght and balance, also try to use your arms (FAIRLY) to hold off defenders. Ensure first touch is good.
- If / When in on goal, try to cleanly strike the ball.
Red Team;
- GK communicates with other players. (Because as a GK you are more likley to see runners in behind that out field players).
- Keep positional discipline.
- Midfielders try to press the play as much as you can.
- Rotate Midfielders if you wish.
- 7 Seconds to Score

Ball pens are situated at either side of both goals as well as inside the goals.
Flat Markers;
Flat Markers are placed on the ground as Guidline areas for each player on the defending team to aim to be in at the start of each phase of play that the blue team start.
Place 'Bibs' out on playing field where you would like the players to start. It is important not to place defenders/defending teams to deep or near their own goals as players are unlikely to move beyond their 'starting point'.
