Defending Diamond

Set up

- 8 Players + Keeper
- 2 small goals

- Cones

- Bibs

Instructions

- Ball starts at keeper that realease to one of the back 3 - the team in posession must try make passes around the defending 4 with the aim of scoring in 1 of the two small goals

- Team Defending uses 1-2-1 defensive shape to block passing lanes to the goal

- No rotations are in play for attacking team they must stay in the 3-1 shape to start with. Target player can move freely to try recieve.

- If defending team wins the ball they can try score in the big goals

Coaching Points

- Quick sharp movements

- Cutting off passing lanes and angles to other players

- Move together in the diamond shape

- Good defensive shape

Progression

Team attacking can move freely.

Move 2 mini goals together to allow both attacking and defending both ways.
