  • The yellow team are defending the goal

7v7+2 SSG - Attacking Possession Phase (30 mins)

Organisation

  • Regular small sided game to goal with restrictions
  • The ball always starts with the goal of the team that should have had possession. i.e, if it goes out off a white player, the blue keeper starts with the ball.
  • The team in possession must play through their defensive players and build into the attacking half
  • The white and blue players will stay outside the field in the attacking half, encouraging players to look for the switch
  • Pink players are neutral and can go anywhere, blue and white players must stay where they start
Coaching Points
  • Sharp touches and quick ball movements
  • Dictate the speed of play and move the defenders around
  • Decision making - don't move the ball to a player under more pressure than you
  • Move to create angles and open up passing lanes
  • Attack quickly once you can break out
  • How can we move to create space for not only ourselves but our teammates too? i.e. if the two forwards are occupying their defenders, we open up space for the switch

Progression

  • Remove the half way line restriction, allowing players to move freely off the ball
  • Remove the outside player, forcing players to think about keeping the width instead of making them.
