Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): 2 v 1 Into 2 v 2

Method:

The Aim of the 2 v 1 into 2 v 2’sdrill is to emulate the natural play of football but in smaller sides to allowthe children to focus on decision making and making the right plays.

• The Team on the left will start as the attackingteam, only one player on this side can attack and needs to progress and try toscore
• The defending team will have 2 playersdefending.
• If the attacker loses the ball the defendingteam can attack.
• At this point the other member of the attackingteam can now play and engage
• Once the ball goes out of play reset the drill
• Rotate the attacking team so all sides get achance to start attacking and defending

Coaching Points:

• Make sure the players are reading the game andmaking the right decisions.
• Attackers are progressing and waiting to taketheir chance.
• Make sure defenders are closing the space,waiting for the chance to get the ball and covering each other.
