Shot Stopping technical drill with progression.
SET UP - 5 GKs , 8 Footballs
Objective - The GK in goals main aim objective is to save the shots that are on target. They have to make sure they are in the correct position and set for each shot from the different areas within the box
Drills Instructions - The 4 GKs are numbered 1-4 along different areas of the box and will hit shots towards goal in the sequence of 1,3,2 & 4 so the GK in goals has to adapt positions to the different angle of the shots coming in on goal. Each player has 3 shots each so 12 shots in total after each set of 4 stop for 1 minute rest to reflect on last set. For the technical drill the balls are sitting static ready to be hit and for the progression the ball are being passed between players 1&3, 2&4 so the ball is moving and also the players shooting will have to move to hit the ball which then creates a different angle and shot for the GK in goals to deal with
Coaching Points

Set up - 1 GK, 8 players , 8 footballs, 2 x 7 aside goals, 3rd of a pitch
Objective - For the attacking players (blue) to try and get as many shots on target for the GK in goal to try and save, defenders (red) are there to stop them and try and score in the mini goal
Instructions - Comp 1 the attacking players in blue have an overload of 5 to 3 so they should have more success of getting shots on goal for the Gk to try an save, the defending (red) players are there to just put the attacking players off not physically tackle them for the first set of shots (8 in total) but they can run and move with play to make it harder for the attacking team.
Progression - after the first round of 8 shots there will be another 3 rounds so 24 shots from the attacking team but this time the defenders can tackle and try and win the ball and if they do they can score into the mini goal situated at the end of the 3rd of the pitch. After every 8 shots they gather the footballs in and take their break then start again, blue team always start

Set up - 2 GKs, 14 players, half pitch marked with a halfway line, 11 aside goals at half way, 12 football (6 each goal)
Objective - 8v8, try and get as many shots on goal as possible for the GKs to save
Instruction- each team has 7 outfield players (3 defenders and 4 attackers) the pitch is marked halfway in the half pitch and the 4 attackers in each team are not allowed in their defensive half this is to create an overload of attackers v defenders so we can achieve the outcome of the GK in goals having plenty of shots on goal to save, the defenders can go and help the attackers but must be wary of the counter attack and the overload, if The ball the opposition GK starts, play for 10mins then stop for a break then start again for 10mins
Progression - After the first 10mins and play has started again it’s the same rules except one player from the attacking team can go and help with with defending to try and turn over play quicker and counter attack
