Step 1

  • Player 2 makes the field big by jogging and heading up field/towards goal
  • Player 2 then checks to the ball so they are positioned to recieve it.

  • Player 2 recognizes that Player 1 is dribbling into the middle space and spins out in one of two directions which depends on where player 1 dribbles the ball.

  • If player 1 continues to dribble in a diagonal direction, then player 2 will spin out in the opposite direction.

  • If player 1 dribbles in verticle direction (straight line toward goal), then player 2 will spin out in the opposite direction.

Step 6  

  • The spin-out run by player 2 needs to start by going back towards his own goal, then go wide towards the sideline and, then upfield.  Very important that the shape of the run goes back to start to prevent offsides and create a wide passing angle.

  •  Spin out player(P2) wants stay wide and time his run so they can provide a passing angle for player 1.  The defender(s) will have to decide to either stay with the player on the ball or the player making the run.

  • Player 2 will then continue the run up the field.  Player 1 can then either continue the dribble upfield or find Player 2 with a pass.
