Set up:
- 15x30 yards field set-up (Split grid into 2 halves)
- 1 pug goal at end of field
- 2v2 plus neutral (yellow) and one target player (yellow) with the balls. Can play 3v3 + Neutral and Target. Adjust to your numbers but will likely need 2 grids.
Instructions
- Game starts with a pass from target player into the red team. Red team are looking to penetrate the offside line with a pass to teammate to score on the pug goal
- Blue team are looking to win the ball back and secure possession with pass to target player. If Blue team wins the ball and secures a pass with the target player, Blue becomes the attacking team.
- Neutral player is on 1 or 2 touches. Target player can also be used and is on 1 or 2 touch.
- Switch neutral and target player every 3 minute intervals.
Coaching points
- Movement and angles of support from players off of the ball
- Anticipation to defend
-When to make run in behind to receive a pass to score
Progression
- Allow 1 defender to follow attacker into grid with mini-goal to create a 1v1
-Allow 1 additional attacker and 1 defender to join into grid with mini-goal to create 2v1 ... " " 2v2
-Turn both grids into a tournament
-Call offsides
To make it easier
-Add another neutral player
-Make the space bigger if they are not being successful
-Let players be in an offside position (they can stand in the other half of the field before the ball is played)

5v5 + N in 40x45 yards
6v6 + N in 45x55 yards
*We don't have 40 yards width in Fieldhouse house but use the space you are given
Coaching Point
-How can you lose your opponent
-When we receive: can we protect and get hold of it. Can we do a feint before receiving the ball?
-When and how can we combine with others?
Make it harder
-Neutral players can only have 2 touch
-Add a half way line. Players are confined to one 1/2 or other.
-Remove wide neutral players
Options
- You can only defend one player (man marking). Before the game starts, all players pair up, and they are only responsible for that one player. This will encourage players to lose their one defender.
- The principle of marking is the same, but instead of being responsible for only one player, you can play it like a normal game (5v5 or 6v6).

Free Game: encourage players to move off of the ball.
Keep neutral player if it makes sense for the numbers.
Coaching Points
-Same principles - MOVEMENT OFF THE BALL - how can you be an option for your teammate? 360 support?
-If your teammate has the ball, are you in a space to receive it?

Technical Y-Passing
Cone spacing: adjust depending on what you want to get out of it. Smaller distances are encouraged as we start to encourage high tempo.
Passing Pattern
Pattern #1: Player 1 - Player 2 - Player 1 - Player 3 Score on Pug Goal
Detail: the final pass from Player 1 to Player 3 should be played to the inside on the cone so Player 3 is able to take a touch with right foot around the cone to then finish on the pug goal
Pattern #2: Player 1 - Player 2 - Player 1 - Player 3 - Player 2 - Player 3 to score on pug goal.
Detail: the Player 3-2-3 combination should be a give and go around the cone Player 3 starts on. One touch finish to goal.
Pattern #3: Ask players to create a pattern
Coaching points:
-Finish first time on the pug goal if possible
-Movements BEFORE the ball is received - check away, check to the ball
