Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): Breaking Lines with a focus on passing

Passing between the lines

Organization

Field split into 4 channels, players in two teams in groups of 3 or 4 in each channel

Teams pass the ball in their zones. When possible teams pass the ball through the other teams zone to their teammates in the next zone. Teams retain possession until they lose the ball or if it goes out of play. Teams score 1 point each time they pass the ball to their teammates in the opposite zone. 

Coaching Points
1) Offensive player body shape to be able to play penetrating pass on 1 touch when possible

2) 1st and 2nd defenders are encouraged to work together to limit passing angles (pressing/dropping off)  

Progression 2

Organization

Add endzone

*Point scored when a pass is played to a player in the endzone*

Field split into 4 channels, players in two teams in groups of 3 or 4 in each channel

Progression(1) = 1 defensive player from middle zone enters and defends zone 1 or 4

Progression(2) =  1 offensive player from middle zone enters zone 1 or 4 to overload on offense and 1 offensive player from zone 4 can enter zone 2 to support
