Objective- Players can identify when to take their 1st touch into space and away from pressure/beyond defender to help team beat press in mid zone

Key Principles: Scanning before receiving, body shape of receiving player (can you face forward to then take 1st touch forward) or bounce back to teammate he can play forward if you cannot. 

(1) Skill Intro 

- 8v4 Dynamic BP and transition game

Green- Jokers operating for both teams in BP. Blue must keep ball for as long as possible (6 passes=1pt) in area with help of jokers (4v4 in area). Reds must chase ball aggressively with intent of forcing a turnover asap.

When red win BP 2 blue enter area and 2 red go to outside (sharp transition). PT #Jokers- Can you create an effective passing angle during transition moment to ensure team in (+) transition can keep BP under high press. Cue- As soon as red regain BP.

CP- Angles off ball to create passing options and to allow for quick 1/2 touch passing.

Pass detail- perceiving the type of press as an indication of when to play forward or when to be patient + when to play to back foot or front foot of receiver.

- Pass disguise in order to beat press.

- constantly moving in grid to be an option (working up and down each side of grid to receive)

- Direction of 1st touch- away from where ball came from.

PT general and cue- When it is congested in active ball zone can we take our 1st touch into space and work a sharp switch.

- Working on different angles to avoid square passes and making it harder for pressing team to win BP.

Jokers have 2 touch limit on outside to increase speed of decision making

Step up:

7v5 dynamic BP/transition game with 4 mini goals.

Blue keep ball in area (7v5) for as long as possible (6 passes=1pt). When red win Bp they must attempt to score in any mini goal situated on corners of grid. Blue must react to this (-) transition and close ball carrier down collectively asap (aggressive chase) and force reds away from goals before seeking to regain BP again.

Teams will rotate after 4 mins. 

CP- Spacing in BP and open passing lines to allow for effective possession, especially with 2 player overload, red collective chase to win BP back (seek to overload ball side while blocking central passing lanes) Note- Bouncers only have 2 touches max (step down- unlimited but must move ball quickly), when to take a 1st touch and when to play first time (if there is space/time or you can take touch beyond isolated defender then you can take 1st touch). 

PT (BP) #Central players for red: can you demonstrate good awareness and identify when to take a 1st touch in opposite direction to where ball came from? i.e. if i have good open body shape but I cannot play forward can I put disguise on my 1st touch and take it to either side of defender (Thiago reference).

(2) Skill Training 

Dynamic 2 zone BP game with x4 Jokers

Reds begin in zone 1 and must combine for 7 passes before breaking into zone 2 via a direct pass to end player in zone 2 or by finding central joker who receives half turn and plays into the end player. 

CP #central joker can you seek to open passing lines and create option/be a link man for effective transition cue- when 1 team is actively seeking to get into next zone

#central (in-zone) Joker- Can you seek to operate centrally and provide effective link (work triangles and switches of play to help team in BP maintain possession. Cue- when space opens centrally for you to occupy while giving ball carrier an angle for pass to be played (direction of 1st touch key). 

Step up: If team complete set number of passes in initial phase they can score in mini goal (1 each side) in that grid (other team still have to break into next zone when they regain BP.

(3) Skill Game 

4v4+(4) Tactical SSG with bouncers and 4 mini goals.

2 min games before rotation.

- must find bouncers in build up to maximise use of overload. If we can get a 1/2 off an end player (3rd man runner allowed) and score it is worth 3pts. Other goal= 1.

TT- get ball to end player if opportunity presents itself PT- general- can we play through opposition's press to get end player on ball, then prompting a third man run to receive sharp bounce from end player. Cue- as ball is begin played to end player.

Note: all jokers are limited to 2 touches. They must operate effectively to create passing options.

If blue win ball back and complete an attack inside 10 seconds the goal will be worth double (theoretically 6 pts for bounce off end player inside the 10 seconds)

- push ups for x2 losing teams after a few rounds.
