Learning of the skill (20min)
Players are learning Coerver feints:
- Step-Over
- Side Step
- Scissor
Some players would have alredy learned some so adjust the difficulty to your group level.
Pay attention to the technique. Keep your eyes up, as you come out of the move.
Blue player starts performs a move and red player can only start after he made an eye contact with the blue.
Progressions:
- Blue and red start at the same time
- One Ball only, players pass the ball after performing the move
- One team perform the moves, the other team act as defenders and apply limited pressure on the attacker

Developing the skill in 1v1 games (20min)
Two goals on each end. Coach on the side line with a supply of balls.
Coach plays the ball onto the pitch and 1 player from each team runs around one of the goals and plays a 1v1 game against the opposite player. Players can score into either of the goals but can only shoot after crossing the red shooting line. If the ball goes out, coach play another ball in.
After a goal is scored, the game ends.
Progression:
Winner stays on. When a red player scores, he runs back around one of his goals and the coach plays the ball to the blue player.
Make it to a team competition. Example: team to score 15 goals first- wins.

Group Play (15min)
Two teams of players, two goalkeepers in goals, 1 ball, coach on the side line with a supply of spare balls.
Blue Team - defenders pass the ball across the pitch to red.
Red team are lined up behind their goal.
Red decide how many players they want to send out to attack. If they send out 1 player, they can score 1 point, if they send out 2, they can score for 2 and so on. After reds received the ball and crossed the green line, the blue team send out the exact number of players to defend. If blue team win the ball and score, they get the points. If the ball goes out- no points. First team to get to 10 points wins.
Progression:
Same rules but this time teams play for one minute. If the ball goes out, the coach plays in another ball. If the red team choose to play 4v4 and fail to score - the blue team gets the points automatically. The defending team can, but don't have to score to win points. If they last 1 minute without conceding a goal, they win the points.
Coaching points:
Encourage players to take people on to create space and try and finish the play as quickly as possible.
There are many modifications of this game which will be used in the next sessions

Small Side Game (15min)
Normal football rules. Allow the players to take throw in with their foot and run with the ball. That will create more opportunities to play 1v1 and use the Coerver moves they learned.
The last 5 minutes of the session are for feedback. We ask the players what they have learned and why.
