A GK 1v1 session aimed at focussing on the blocking technique.

Key Factors - Set Position; move in to line of the ball to narrow angle accordingly.
Technical elements of the block (previously).
Organisation - work in full size goal; 4 discs on each side dividing up the area where the resting goalkeepers (servers) will work in. Coach will have all 8 footballs in the centre of the area used.
Coach passes ball into servers (no fixed pattern) who will start deep; they will receive the ball and will aim to score past the working GK. GK must try and implement the blocking technique and react accordingly.
Progressions - servers can vary their type of service, i.e. try to go around the goalkeeper etc.

Technical (15 mins)
Key Factors - Quick approach to ball, Decelerating close to ball, balanced body position; square to the ball, One leg full bent - the other one half bent, hands in front of body by the side of legs, head and body over the ball.
Equipment - 1 full size goal, 8 footballs, 3 cones, 10 discs.
Organisation
1) Blocked practice - only decisions being made is left side/right side
GKs will work in a station each. One cone/disk will be placed on the 6 yard line; with another cone placed 5 yards away with a ball on top of it.
GKs will start on their red cone; the coach will call out either left/right and the GK will then run to the ball and undergo the block technique. (5 Minutes)
Progression. 2) One working GK, resting GKs will be servers. Cone situated on the goal line (positioning of GK - line from centre of goal to the ball). Servers will be situated 5-6 yards from the cone on the line out on either side (forming a triangle). GK will move towards the ball from the centre of goal and will aim to produce the block technique on each side. (6 repetitions and then rotate).
