Learning Outcomes:
-

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Regressions:
- Play 1v1 alternating teams.
- Play 1 vs 1 with 2 balls at the same time -- & the first one to score gets a point for their team
- Play with only 2 or 3 teams at a time.
- Play with 2 or 3 balls (enables more goals to be scored given fewer defenders)

Progressions:
- If a goal is scored, that team gains back an extra life. This encourages shooting. The round can be played for time, the team with the most lives left after the allotted time wins.
- Incorporated in the instructions above. The coach enables more than 1 player to come out from each team - whoever is distributing the ball should announce 2 or even 3...
- Service can come from the air and goals must be out of the air or off a bounce.
- Add neutral in the middle. If you combine with the neutral and score your team gets one more life.
- Consider making the playing area smaller - move the goals closer to create more 1st time finishes out of the air.

Main Activity (20 mins)
Organization:
- 20 x 20 yards 8+ players divided onto (2 or 4) separate teams.
- 4 mini goals in corners.
- The soccer balls start with the coach.
Instructions:
- The objective of the game is to score a goal in an opponent's goal while defending your own. Each team starts with 3 lives. If a goal is scored in their goal they lose a life. Once all three lives are lost they flip their goals and can not win the game anymore but they still play. Last team with lives left wins.
- Camper of the Day or another Player selected by the coach passes a ball in the middle. One player from each team plays 1v1v1v1. After a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play 4 new players come on.
*Important: the coach does not serve the balls - this enables him/her to allow another player to play a leadership role in initiating the play & it also makes them able to coach players in the flow of the game.
Coaching Points/Questions:
- Various techniques for finishing; power vs placement.
- Head up to identify the position of defender & goal.
- Prep touch to create shooting space & then finish.
- Encourage the use of first-time strikes, provided the player has assessed the opportunity.
- Can you trick the other players by drawing them into one area then turning out to a different goal.
- Disguise using eyes, body shape.
