z1-z2 build up

Z1 - Z2 build up - How quickly can we get the ball to Zone 2?

#6- white shaded = area of play in this phase

#8/#10- looks to play in half spaces (blue shaded areas) for the most part. On occasion central channel is okay.

* Notice the diamonds and triangles we create. By positioning ourselves this way we will create more passing opportunities.

Classroom- many lines in possession(7). 7/11/9 pinning back 4, ability to continue using defenders to circulate the ball, and GK. Identifying the overloads. Off the ball movement from players w/out ball to help team with the ball. #8 and #10 in half spaces (blue shaded) is key.

z2-z3 rotation phase

How can we move the ball through the 5 channels in order to find a pass into zone 3?

- We need to be patient and move the ball until an ideal opportunity presents itself for a through ball.

- notice all the diamonds and triangles on the field, how can this help your teammate find an open option?

- we go back to go up! This means we use back passes to keep the ball for better options to go forward. Sometimes attacking means going back first. If we can turn and go up right away we MUST DO SO!

- positioning and off the ball movement is key! Playing with out the ball is just as important as playing with the ball!

- Rotation zone- movement of the ball and players to get #'s up to find a pass to z3

- If we can, let's try and not go back a zone. But if we need to since nothing is ON that's okay.

How can we move the ball in order for their to be an opening for a through ball?

Can we get #'s at top of Z3 (or top half of Z3) to better attack into z4?

- play through the channels

- Timing of runs to break line,

-Still going back to go up

- possible 1v1 situations to dribble into z3

What are our triggers before we find a through pass?

- One touch pass back for pass through (Up+Back+through.. if its on...)

- body language of attacking players before passing ball through.

- off the ball movement from players trying to break the line. "U" runs, sprinting runs through, checking back to drag defender out then sprint behind, blindside runs..

How can we continue to create opportunities to score in this zone?

- passing must be fast and sharp. Many 1 touches, give and go, back to go up, and shoot when its on!

-If left side crosses, left center mid (#10) goes in and right side center mid (#8) goes to middle behind #9 incase ball doesn't go in between 6 yard box and PK spot. This is shown in 2nd slide of animation.

- Notice shape of back 6 (2-3-1). This allows us to have passes back if we are stuck, or to be ready to win the ball back right away to attack right away in z4!

- There are an infinite amount of ways to create a goal scoring opportunity, still look to combine or 1v1 with skill moves to make an opening for a shot.

For the time being, we attack with 5 and defend with 5, however outside defenders and #6 are still supporting the attack for pass back or over lap in z4!

- Be brave and 1v1 with SKILL MOVES if its ON!
