Setup
Area: 25m * 25m grid divided into three equal horizontal zones (Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3).
Players: Divided into three teams of equal numbers (e.g., 3v3v3 or 4v4v4) occupying one zone each.
How It Works
[ Zone 1 ] Attacking Team A (Unopposed - 3 passes minimum)
[ Zone 2 ] Defending Team B (Pressure, Cover, Balance)
[ Zone 3 ] Attacking Team C (Waiting to receive)
The Start: The coach releases the ball into Zone 1.
The Objective: Players in Zone 1 must complete a minimum of 3 passes before attempting to play the ball through the lines (across Zone 2) into Zone 3.
The Defense: Players in Zone 2 must remain in their zone and shift together using Pressure, Cover, and Balance mechanics to block the passing lanes.
The Turnover:
If the defenders in Zone 2 intercept or block the ball, Team 1 and Team 2 immediately swap roles/zones.
The coach then resets the play by sending a new ball into Zone 3.
Key Coaching Points
Shift the Defense: Use quick, crisp square passes to force the defending line to shift, naturally opening up vertical passing lanes.
Split the Defenders: Look for opportunities to play the ball between two defenders rather than just around them.
Target Awareness: Players in the opposite end zone (Zone 3) must constantly move, scan, and position themselves in the gaps between the defenders to offer a clean passing lane.
Constant Communication: Both the passing team (to coordinate the shift) and the receiving team (to demand the ball in the gaps) must communicate verbally and visually.

Play Through the lines 2
This progression introduces active defensive pressure into the possession zone. It forces the attacking players to cope with a defender in their face while still maintaining the vision to split the remaining defensive line.
How It Works
[ Zone 1 ] Attacking Team A (4 Players)
[ Zone 2 ] Defending Team B (Remaining 3 Players: Cover & Balance)
[ Zone 3 ] Attacking Team C (4 Players waiting to receive)
The Start: The coach releases the ball into Zone 1.
The Press: As soon as the ball enters Zone 1, one designated defender from Zone 2 sprints in to press, creating an active 4v1 Rondo.
The Objective: The four players in Zone 1 must complete a minimum of 3 passes against the presser before looking to play the ball through the lines to Zone 3.
The Midline Defense: The remaining players in Zone 2 cannot enter Zone 1. They must shift, cover, and balance to block the passing lanes into the opposite end.
The Turnover & Reset: If the defender in Zone 1 or the blocking line in Zone 2 wins the ball, the defending team swaps roles and zones with the team that lost possession.
The coach immediately resets the game by releasing a new ball into Zone 3.
Key Coaching Points :
Attract the Presser to Free the Lane: Teach the 4v1 players to draw the single defender toward them before quickly shifting the ball. Moving the presser creates the gap behind them.
Body Profile to Receive: Players in Zone 1 must receive the ball with an open body shape. This allows them to see both the pressing defender and the target players in Zone 3 simultaneously.
Patience vs. Speed: Don't force the forward pass just because 3 passes are complete. Keep the ball under 4v1 pressure until a clear gap opens up in the Zone 2 defensive line.
Defensive Communication: The lone presser must work to make the play predictable, while the line behind them must constantly communicate where to shift to plug the leaks.
