Timing of Movement (15 mins)

Organization:

Maximum 5 players in a group

Plenty of soccer balls


Instructions:

Receiving player starts facing player with the ball

Passing player serves ball in and receives pass back from receiving player (1 & 2)

Receiving player then checks to either blue or red cone to receive pass (3)

Receiving player opens up to go forward and passes into target goal or target gate (4)

Passing player moves up to become receiving player

Receiving player head to starting area

Waiting player steps up to be next passer


Coaching:

Eye contact between passer and receiver - non verbal

Asking for the ball - verbal

Movement of checking to an angle

Open body position to play forward and find target goal quickly

Receiving across the body

Break lines with 1st touch

1v1 (15 mins)

Organization:

Maximum 5 players in a group

Plenty of soccer balls


Instructions:

Add defender

Same set up routine with passes between 2 attacking players

Defender is live once the receiving player checks to red or blue and receives the ball

Play 1v1 to score in the goal/gate

Receiving player becomes defender

Passing player becomes receiving player

Defender comes back to starting position


Coaching:

Eye contact between passer and receiver - non verbal

Asking for the ball - verbal

Movement of checking to an angle

Open body position to play forward and find target goal quickly

Receiving across the body

Break lines with 1st touch

1v1 ability

2v1 (15 mins)

Add 2nd attacker for 2v1

Same set up routine with passes between 2 attacking players

Passing player joins in the game to make 2v1

Defender is live the entire game (can intercept the 1st pass)

Movement of checking to an angle

Open body position to play forward and find target goal quickly

Receiving across the body

Break lines with 1st touch

Pass vs Dribble

2nd attacker - support underneath or make a run in behind?

7v7 (20 mins)

Organization:

7v7 full field scrimmage within the pools (don't have to stack teams)

Balls divided into each goal


Instructions:

Free play 7v7 per laws of SSG

All goals are restarted with goal kick for conceding team


Coaching:

Building out from gk

Positional play per game model

Create a diamond on the side of the ball we build

Width from 7/11

Depth from 9 - 'point of the diamond'

Look for moments to support the play (think 2v1 activity earlier)

Does support have to be ahead of the ball?

If player receives under pressure, can ball go backwards

Receiving technique - open, across body, break line with 1st touch (if possible)
