10 mins
Organisation
- Goal
- 3 Cones
- Balls
Drill
Place the cones in a triangle, 2 steps off each post and then the third, 2 further steps.
Again same as the first, work it coaches choice. To use a variety of service and movements. Aim to receive within the triangle.
Movements -
- Touch post and turn to receive
- Start facing one side, move back onto middle of the goal, and then forward to receive.
- Jump over cone, land and set to receive.
Service could be;
- At the body, allowing for the catch
- Down low, can be straight, left, right or random allowing for a catch or parry
- From further out, looking to claim the ball from cross type service
Receive 3 shots close or 5 shots/ crosses from distance, then rotate. Intense movement when in session but relax when recovering and allow partner to reset.
Progression
- Speed the drill up, creating a higher tempo and less time to react
- More sets meaning more hands on but remember this is a warm up
Regression
- Slow the service down, giving a longer reaction time for the goalkeeper

Organisation
Work across the penalty area or any area and distance available.
Drill
Complete all forms of distribution; throws, kicking (stationary and rolling) and Volleys
Can use different forms of collecting as well, GK should adapt to pace and bounce of the ball from one side to the othe
Throwing/ Roll;
- Catch or pick up from the previous GK.
- Working back and forth aiming straight to partner, if required reduce the distance, allowing a larger focus on the delivery. Over arm / under arm etc
Kicking (all forms);
- Receive from previous once again, getting used to the surface and bounce
- When stationary, place ball as if goal kick and go through individual kicking form, this is however you would do in game and find comfortable.
- With Rolling and Volley, suggest taking further distance if needed. Get used to pitch once again, do not try to over hit, focus more on connection, not power and distance.
CoachWatch the Goalkeepers form, intervene and progress once happyIf not happy.. regress by decreasing the distance of pass etc and concentrate on getting the form back (mechanics)

Drill
Easily completed with 2 players, no coaching necessary, just basis of getting hands, feet and reactions used to game day movements.
Take 3 cones, does not matter on size or colour, place in a line with about a foot and a half in between each one
Complete these movements with a high tempo....
These different types of footwork can be used with a variety of services, for example;
Combination of footwork and service completely up to the coach. Complete 5 reps of each footwork in 2 sets, so if service goes one way for one set of diving saves, the next set will be to the other side
